Water for Bida LGA
This flagship water access project will bring clean, drinkable water to five rural villages in the Bida Local Government Area of Niger State. Using solar-powered boreholes equipped with gravity-fed tap stands, the initiative will ensure year-round access to safe water. Each site will include a secure water storage tank, basic fencing, and drainage channels to prevent erosion and pooling. In addition to infrastructure, UMF will train a local Water Management Committee made up of village volunteers (with at least 50% female representation) to handle routine maintenance, monitor water usage, and collect community feedback. Hygiene sensitisation campaigns will be run in schools and marketplaces to promote safe water practices and prevent waterborne illnesses.
