Strength in Our Hands
UMF will launch an intensive community leadership and training program in three communities recently equipped with water systems, namely, Bida, Gbako and Katcha LGA’s. Local youths and trusted elders will be selected to undergo structured training in borehole system maintenance, water sanitation, first aid, community mapping, and leadership ethics. The goal is to develop a locally embedded team of “UMF Guardians” — residents who will serve as stewards of UMF’s infrastructure and educators within their own communities. Each team will be provided with a basic toolkit, record-keeping booklets, and a communication channel with UMF’s technical support team. This initiative ensures every UMF project is not only installed, but sustained by the very people it serves.
